Spring Migration Banding at Gilmore Ponds began in 1998. Fall Migration Banding began in 2005.

HBRC is seeking an individual to train as a bird bander to become the lead bander at the

Gilmore Ponds Interpretive Preserve migratory bird banding research station in Fairfield, OH.

Training will begin in December 2011 and will continue until the trainee has mastered their skills at a level

necessary to band birds on his/her own.

The length of time it will take to complete the training process will depend upon the availability of the trainee to

attend the training sessions offered. Banding birds includes the use of mist nets to capture the birds.

Applicant must be 18 years of age or older, relatively good fine hand motor skills and able to handle rough terrain on foot.

If interested, please complete the HBRC Participant Application and return

it to hbrc@hbrcnet.org or mail to P.O. Box 157, Liberty, IN 47353.

BIRD BANDER APPLICATION

Committment: At least two days a week between the 3rd weekend in April thru Memorial Day

and late August thru early November. Time: Approx. 1 hour before sunrise to noon.
